Municipal Hospital Lüneburg
The heterogeneous structure of the existing hospital with 545 beds, mixed care- and treatment areas, unclear walking paths and building parts requiring restoration was to be replaced in a step-by-step process and developed further. The solution concept includes among other things the relocation of the emergency unit and its access-road in order to create an important separation between visitor traffic and stationary patients who are confined to the bed. The concept also includes the restructuring of the patient reception as it separates voluntary patients from emergency care patients. A summarized, concentrated area for emergency patient- and other patient reception is created, and the existing position of the main entrance is retained. A new hall for the central entrance forms a modern entrée. Furthermore, a main path is established, which divides the hospital into an examination- and treatment block and a care area.
