Psychiatric Hospital Neuss

The Psychiatric Hospital Neuss, which was formerly located at two sites, was to be concentrated at St. Josef Hospital. The objective of the competition included the restructuring of all 325 required and fully stationary plan beds as well as the design of a gerontological-psychiatric day clinic with 13 spaces. The concept is characterized by clearly segmented buildings. The two unit buildings with four levels and generous courtyards are structured around a central building in the shape of an L, which has four levels as well. The buildings are embedded in a park-like landscape with preserved trees and complemented by interspersed open, green areas and greened interior courtyards. The accessible gardens are designed as open areas. They interact with the strictness of the building and significantly contribute to an increased amenity quality.
