Heckscher Hospital
The objective of the procedure was to plan a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents as well as a clinic for psychosomatics and psychotherapy. The guiding principle for the concept was to create a protected environment for children, which equally takes the desire for contact and retreat into account. The urban element of block perimeter development is integrated into the outer appearance while the comb-structure enables a differentiated open area concept. The main building in the form of a U includes a medical area, an administration and emergency unit. The care areas are located on the first and second floor. A connecting corridor integrates a therapy area and a day clinic. The care areas have a pavilion-like layout, which underscores the “private” character of these areas. All rooms face south.
