Restructuring
The restructuring of the Eickel clinic included the construction of a new surgery department with 4 thoracic operating rooms, the renovation and the addition of a unit building and the extension of the intensive care unit. Two floors were added to the existing building and a three-story addition with patient rooms was built. All of the bathrooms in the patient rooms in the new building are located on the exterior wall and benefit from natural lighting and ventilation. The entire third floor was converted into an elective procedures unit. A radiology practice with PET-CT and other equipment as well as technical rooms were set up in the basement. The whole structure, combining the existing and new parts of the building, is tied together with a bright plaster facade with bands of windows. Certain parts of the building were accented with anthracite exterior panels. The remodeling and construction was completed while the clinic remained in full operation.
