Remodeling and renovation
The hospital complex dating from the 1970s was required by later legislation to upgrade its fire protection systems and remediate hazardous materials used in the earlier construction. At the same time, the units were restructured. The redesigned building now has 26 open and closed general and geriatric psychiatric units with a total of 520 beds. A neurological intensive care unit with 8 intensive care and 4 stroke patient beds was integrated. An interdisciplinary, central admissions department was created. The pool and gym areas were restructured. Radiology was extended with a new MRI scanner. Attached are offices for medical consultants and clinical staff physicians. A meeting space, a 130-seat cafeteria and a computer training center were also added. The remodeling and construction was completed while the clinic remained in full operation.
