Protestant Hospital Hattingen
New construction of emergency center
The emergency center was designed and built on the grounds of the hospital as a municipal “gateway to the city”. The striking appearance is predominantly characterized by convex street facades, the duality of the stair tower with its plastered facade and the main building with its zinc facade. Physicians and therapists can make use of eight levels with a total area of approximately 3,700 sq. m. Examination rooms, offices and social rooms are located along the facades; functional rooms can be found in the building’s interior. The levels allow for an open concept based on the roundabout principle. Direct access to the hospital is especially important to renters. It allows them to use basic functional areas and provides medical, structural and communicative access.
