New construction of endoscopy unit, intensive care unit and dialysis center
At the Hospital Merheim a four-leveled function hall was constructed in a central location of the hospital grounds. The new building includes an interdisciplinary endoscopy unit, an internistic intensive care unit with 18 beds, an acute neurological center with 17 beds and an intensive care unit, a stroke unit and stationary dialysis unit with 24 beds. The layout conception with middle zone- and roundabout corridors shortens walking paths and enables efficient work processes. Care rooms open up due to large-dimensioned windows with a tension-filled facade design consisting of zinc sheet metal and contrasting wood surfaces.
