Hospital Karlsburg / Greifswald
Goal- and total planning
The existing hospital building was completely restored and expanded as a center for cardiovascular-, diabetes- and metabolic diseases. A three-leveled expansion incorporates the highly technical function areas. While the care- and disposal areas are located in the basement, the entry hall with cafeteria, the sections for physical therapy, laboratory medicine and emergency care are located on the ground floor. The first floor accommodates cardiological diagnostics and therapy with an associated care unit; the second floor is designated for heart surgery. Operating theatres, intensive care medicine and sterilized supplies are also located here. A central holding area precedes the four operating theatres. The beds in the patient rooms are placed opposite each other, which makes various bed positions possible.
