Remodeling and renovation of the Rhine wing
The conversion and renovation of the hospital built in the 1950s included the acute geriatrics unit and a new geriatric outpatient clinic. Inpatient rooms were brought up to the latest standards, with an eye to future developments. All patient rooms were redesigned as singles or doubles, each with its own barrier-free shower bath. The corridors are now punctuated with open nursing stations which optically break up the long corridors and create natural ventilation and lighting. The outpatient clinic now has a separate, accessible entrance. New facades and windows were installed to meet today's design and construction engineering requirements. The window sills in the patients' rooms were designed so that patients could have a view of the adjoining park while in a lying position.
