Residence Friedrichstraße in Hattingen
New building

The hillside property, situated in a general residential area, with a steep southerly slope was the determining element for the orientation of the house. The residence has been designed for a developing family structure and can accommodate three generations. It can also be divided up and optionally used as an office or atelier. The core of the house consists of a central hall, which encompasses all three levels. The hall shows a strong differentiation in height development and internal wall elevation and allows for a diverse room experience. Windowless eave surfaces to protect the bedrooms are in contrast to the building constrictions and openings in the gable walls. The roof surfaces are free of interruptions and carry from the eave walls to the ground. Lime sandstone fairfaced brickwork, timber-framed gable sides, travertine coatings and dark-varnished wood define the character of the material.
