Correctional Facility Cottbus-Dissenchen with 605 spaces for inmates
New building
One of the most modern correctional facilities in the province of Brandenburg has been constructed on former military grounds in the east of Cottbus as a new replacement building. The facility’s design is based on state-of-the-art prison construction concepts and complies with nationally applicable guidance values and norms. The equipment of the facility meets the requirements of the correctional facility law. Extremely diverse function- and supply areas such as detention houses, administrative areas, a reception area, a chamber, a laundry area, a canteen kitchen, a bakery, sports- and leisure buildings, workshops and an energy center had to be included in the construction. The prison- and investigative custody facility can accommodate a total of 605 prisoners of which 48 serve their sentence in an open prison. Approximately 260 employees work at the correctional facility.
