Specialist Hospital for Forensic Psychiatry Rostock-Gehlsdorf
New building and expansion
The new building for the Specialist Hospital for Forensic Psychiatry is part of the Sanatorium Center of the University of Rostock in the Gehlsdorf district. Central facilities for supply, disposal, administration and other facilities are shared so as to create as many synergy effects as possible. The clinic was built as a “recurrence construction” of the Specialist Hospital for Forensic Psychiatry in Ueckermünde. The introverted layout arrangement allows outer wall formations to act as safety boundaries. Only the large garden facing south had to be enclosed by a wall. The wall follows the sloping topography and enables a clear view of the historic district of Rostock. 80 patients, including ten adolescents, are treated in nine care groups.
