County Hospital Mechernich
New construction of parking garage with helicopter landing site
At the County Hospital Mechernich 36 beds were prioritized for emergency surgery. Prompt care of emergency patients and the requirements of the professional association called for the construction of a helipad. With this in mind a helipad was planned with a structural connection to the new carpark, which accommodates 350 vehicles. The selected location fulfills the permission requirement for specialized helicopter landing sites according to ยง 6 of the Federal Aviation Regulation (Air AG) and according to the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The design allows for the arrival and departure corridors to exactly bypass the buildings of the County Hospital.
