Sewage Works Plettenberg
Sewage Works Plettenberg has been designed for a population equivalent of approximately 34 thousand people. It operates with activated sludge processing, a targeted nitrogen elimination system and biological deamonification. It can also remove phosphor from wastewater. In addition to this the sewage works has maturation ponds in which wastewater is additionally purified. The sewage sludge produced during the purification process is treated in digestion tanks. The sewage gas produced in the process is used in combined heat and power stations. The sewage sludge is drained by machines and subsequently loaded on transports for disposal. The operating building, the sludge drainage building, the screening building, the thickener and digestion tanks have been constructed on the grounds of the sewage works. A consistent outer thematic design is present throughout the new buildings and architecturally summarizes the buildings.
