Sewage Works Hattingen
The sewage works was designed to for a population equivalent of approximately 100 thousand people. The variety of functions has resulted in very different building volumes, -heights and floor counts as technical facilities had to be accommodated in appropriate buildings and adapted for specific functions. All buildings, regardless of width and height, are subject to the same ordering principle. All have a uniform structure, which conforms to the proportionate scale. The smallest building prescribes the structure, which is then incorporated and enhanced by all other buildings. The control room acts as a nucleus and common denominator; all other buildings are additions to this fundamental module. The individual foundations are vertically emphasized with single roofs in a pyramid form. Strip lights have been integrated below the roofs and supply daylight to all technical rooms.
