Cornerstone Ceremony
University Clinic Düsseldorf
New Laboratory Building for Wet Research
The cornerstone was laid for a new medical research center at Düsseldorf’s Heinrich-Heine University on April 24th, 2017. It will unite 14 research facilities under a single roof.
The Minister of Innovation, Economics, and Research for the state of NRW, Ms. Svenja Schulze, and high-ranking representatives from the University Clinic took part in the ceremony. Andreas Koch was on site to represent RDS Partner.
The University sees the construction project as a key step for its scientists. Having a variety of departments working together in close proximity will generate synergies. Roughly half of the 8,500 square meters will be reserved for modern laboratories.
The research center is slated for completion in 2020, and will be funded by the state with an 80 million euro grant as part of a multi-billion euro renovation program for the Düsseldorf university. The goal of the investments is to ensure the production of top medical research and outstanding medical training.
