New construction of Medical Research Center I
The commissioning of the new medical research center at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf for 400 researchers and employees will be carried out on a successive basis. State-of-the-art areas for top medical research have been constructed for 14 research institutions in around 8,500 square meters of usable space. All of the laboratories fulfill the safety requirements of the Genetic Engineering Law (S2, GenTG). The new building combines research and ancillary areas for the different clinics and institutes, facilitating synergies between the individual top research disciplines. The building was funded by the state with an 80 million euro grant as part of a multi-billion euro renovation program for the Düsseldorf university. The goal of the investments is to ensure the production of top medical research and outstanding medical training. The construction costs and the initial set-up for the Medical Research Center l are around 80 million euro.
